About the Trek
The Sandakphu Trek is one of the most spectacular Himalayan trekking experiences in Eastern India, taking you along the beautiful Singalila Ridge on the India–Nepal border. Sandakphu, standing at approximately 3,636 metres (11,930 feet), is the highest point in West Bengal and offers breathtaking panoramic views of some of the world's highest mountains.
The trek takes you through charming mountain villages, dense rhododendron and conifer forests, high-altitude meadows, misty trails and scenic ridgelines. One of the biggest attractions of the trek is the magnificent view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu from the higher sections of the trail, subject to weather conditions.
Beginning from Manebhanjan, the gateway to the Singalila Ridge, the trail gradually takes you through Chitrey, Meghma, Tumling, Gairibas and Kalapokhri before reaching the summit of Sandakphu. The journey combines adventure, Himalayan landscapes, local culture and peaceful mountain stays, making it an excellent choice for both experienced trekkers and adventure-loving beginners with reasonable fitness.
