Buran Ghati Trek Safety Guidelines

1. Acclimatize Gradually

The trek reaches approximately 15,000 ft, so proper acclimatization is essential. Give your body enough time to adjust to increasing altitude.

Stay hydrated and avoid alcohol and smoking during the trek.

2. Dress in Layers

Mountain weather can change quickly. Carry thermals, fleece layers, a warm jacket, and waterproof outerwear so you can adjust your clothing according to the conditions.

3. Follow Your Trek Leader

Always follow instructions from the trek leader and support team. Stay with the group and avoid taking unmarked shortcuts.

4. Take Extra Care on Snow and Ice

Snow-covered sections can become slippery, particularly around higher passes. Walk carefully and use appropriate traction equipment when advised by the trek team.

5. Carry Necessary Medication

Carry your regular medicines and a basic personal first-aid kit. Inform the trek team in advance about any relevant medical concerns.

6. Stay Hydrated and Eat Properly

Drink water regularly throughout the day and consume nutritious meals to maintain energy during long trekking sections.

7. Watch for Symptoms of AMS

Acute Mountain Sickness can occur at high altitude. Common symptoms may include headache, nausea, dizziness, unusual tiredness, and breathlessness.

If you experience symptoms, immediately inform your trek leader. Do not continue climbing without guidance.

8. Pack Light

Avoid carrying unnecessary items. A properly organized 50–60 litre backpack with a rain cover is generally suitable for the trek.

9. Protect the Himalayan Environment

Do not litter along the trail. Carry your waste back and follow responsible trekking practices. Respect local communities, wildlife, forests, and water sources.

10. Be Prepared for Emergencies

Mountain weather and trail conditions can change unexpectedly. The trek team should carry essential emergency equipment and first-aid supplies. If conditions become unsafe, following the team's decision to descend is essential.
