Safety Guidelines for Bali Pass Trek

1. Acclimatize Properly

The trek reaches approximately 16,200 ft, making proper acclimatization extremely important. Walk at a comfortable pace, stay hydrated and give your body enough time to adjust to increasing altitude.

2. Dress in Layers

Mountain weather can change quickly. Wear thermal layers, fleece and an insulated jacket, and keep a waterproof outer layer easily accessible.

3. Follow Your Trek Leader

Always follow the instructions of your trek leader and support team. Stay with the group and avoid taking shortcuts or unfamiliar routes.

4. Take Extra Care on Snow and Ice

Snow and icy sections can be slippery and physically demanding. Walk carefully and use appropriate traction equipment when required by the trek team.

5. Carry Essential Medication

Carry your prescribed medicines and a personal first-aid kit. Inform the trek leader about any relevant medical concerns before starting the trek.

6. Stay Hydrated and Eat Properly

Drink water regularly throughout the day and eat balanced meals to maintain energy during long trekking sections.

7. Watch for AMS Symptoms

At high altitude, be alert for symptoms such as headache, nausea, dizziness, unusual fatigue or breathlessness. Inform your trek leader immediately if you feel unwell.

8. Pack Light

Avoid carrying unnecessary items. A properly packed 40–50 litre backpack is generally more comfortable for trekking, while larger backpacks may be required depending on your personal gear and porter arrangements.

9. Follow Leave No Trace Principles

Keep the mountains clean. Do not leave plastic, wrappers or other waste on the trail. Carry your waste back and respect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem.

10. Be Prepared for Emergencies

The trek team carries basic medical and emergency equipment. In extreme weather or unsafe trail conditions, the trek leader may modify the itinerary or initiate a descent. Safety always takes priority over completing the route.
