Projects description

The 3 Days Jim Corbett Family Tour from Delhi is a short, easy wildlife trip to the forests of the Himalayan foothills. In about six hours, you go from Delhi’s traffic to sal forests, the Kosi River and birdsong. You stay at a jungle resort near Ramnagar with a pool, games and bonfire evenings, so it works well for families with children and older parents. Jim Corbett National Park was set up in 1936 as Hailey National Park. It was India’s first national park and the first area covered by Project Tiger. It was later renamed after Jim Corbett, the hunter who became a naturalist and conservationist. Today the park is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, Asian elephants, leopards, several species of deer and hundreds of bird species. That makes it one of the best wildlife destinations in North India. On this tour you can take an early-morning jeep safari (booked separately), visit Garjiya Devi Temple, Hanuman Dham and the Corbett Museum, and enjoy village walks and quiet time at the resort before driving back to Delhi.

Tour Plan

Approx. 250 km | 6–7 Hours

We pick you up in the morning from your hotel, the airport or the railway station in Delhi. Please try to start by 8–9 AM so you have the afternoon free at the resort. The drive is mostly on plain highway through Moradabad and Kashipur. There are no sightseeing stops on the way, just short breaks for breakfast, lunch and washrooms. You reach Corbett by afternoon. Check in at your jungle resort and settle in. In the evening, children can enjoy the pool and indoor or outdoor games, and you can sit by the bonfire or take a gentle village walk around the resort.

Overnight: Corbett
Meals: Dinner

Wake up before sunrise, have a cup of tea and board your open jeep for a morning safari in Corbett National Park. The safari is booked separately. A trained naturalist guides you through the sal forests, grasslands and riverbeds. Watch for spotted deer, sambar, wild elephants, langurs, colourful birds and, if you’re lucky, a tiger.

After the safari, return to the resort for breakfast and some rest. Then go out to see the places around Corbett:

  • Garjiya Devi Temple: a well-known temple of the goddess, built on a large rock in the Kosi River
  • Hanuman Dham: a large, peaceful temple complex in Ramnagar
  • Kosi Barrage: a quiet riverside spot, good for photos and bird-watching
  • Corbett Museum, Dhangarhi: displays about the park’s wildlife, history and conservation
  • Suspension Bridge: a scenic bridge over the Kosi River

Come back to the resort by evening and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Traveller Notes

Best Time to Visit

This Uttarakhand circuit can be planned across different seasons, with each season offering a different experience. Summer is pleasant for sightseeing, monsoon brings lush greenery but may cause road disruptions, while autumn and winter offer clearer mountain views and cooler temperatures.

What to Carry

Travellers are advised to carry:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Light and warm clothing
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Personal medicines
  • Valid photo ID
  • Power bank
  • Rain protection during monsoon
  • Warm layers during winter

Important Road Safety Note

Mountain roads can be narrow and winding. Driving before sunrise or after sunset in hilly areas may be restricted or avoided for safety reasons. The exact travel schedule may therefore be adjusted according to local road and weather conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The jeep safari is not included. Safari permits are issued online by the Corbett Tiger Reserve and depend on availability. We can help you book once your tour is confirmed.

Bijrani and Jhirna are popular for family jeep safaris and have good wildlife sightings. Jhirna and Dhela stay open all year. Bijrani and Garjiya usually open from mid-October to June. Zone availability depends on the season and on permits.

Yes. Driving days are on smooth roads, the sightseeing is light and there is plenty of rest time at the resort. Safaris are bumpy, so older travellers with back problems may want to skip the safari or choose a shorter one.

November to June is the best time, when the main safari zones are open. Winter (November to February) is pleasant and great for birds. Summer (April to June) is hot, but you have a better chance of spotting a tiger as animals come to water sources. The core zones close during the monsoon, roughly July to mid-October.

Tiger sightings are never guaranteed. Corbett has a large tiger population, but sightings depend on luck, the season and the zone. Elephants, deer and birds are seen on almost every safari.

Wear neutral or earthy colours like green, brown or khaki. Bring a warm jacket for winter mornings, plus a cap, sunscreen and binoculars. Don’t wear bright colours or strong perfume, and keep quiet inside the forest.

This 3-day family tour includes a relaxed resort stay, local sightseeing and a jeep safari (booked separately). The 2-day Dhikala tour focuses on the canter safari deep inside the Dhikala zone. Choose this one for a slower family holiday, and the Dhikala tour for a wildlife-focused trip.

Yes. Nainital is about 70 km (3 hours) from Corbett, so it’s easy to extend the trip into a Corbett–Nainital tour.
